Change of Status for Sitefield Hosting

The server which we have been using is now old and causing repeated problems which require a lot of effort to solve.  A new server is not practicable, so Sitefield has ceased to operate its own server and recommends all Clients to migrate to an alternative service provider.

We have identified a suitable UK based ISP and determined all the steps needed to migrate to them. Please visit our web site to see our recommendations and to obtain a Guide to migration.

New Clients are still welcome and we will assist them in setting up hosting with our preferred ISP.

Welcome

This blog exists to provide status information to clients of Sitefield Hosting Services.

If there are problems which interfere with the smooth running of the service or anticipated maintenance downtime it will be reported here.

It should be remembered that the Internet is a hierarchical network of networks and problems at a higher level in the network can have a serious knock-on effect on all services from lower tiers. Sitefield is directly dependent on the services of the higher tier supplier on whose racks our servers are hosted. They in turn are dependent on the Data Centre in which they have their racks as well as peers with whom they have interconnects.

Finally, of course, Data Centres are interconnected by external cables which are most often provided and maintained by BT. These can be damaged by such activities as roadworks as well as natural disasters such as flooding.

If you, as a customer of Sitefield Hosting, are having problems in accessing your email or your web site on one of our servers then please check here before calling us as we may already have knowledge of the problem and can save you a call.

You should note though that if you are having problems with your own web site or your email, but then cannot access this blog, the most likely problem is not with Sitefield but with your own system or your broadband connection, since this blog is not hosted on Sitefield servers.
